Vice Minister Zou Zhiwu Attends Briefing on the WCO Global Operation Demeter IV

On April 24, Mr. Zou Zhiwu, Vice Minister of the General Administration of Customs of China (GACC), attended the Briefing on the Global Operation Demeter IV launched by the World Customs Organization (WCO). The Meeting was held at the WCO Regional Training Center (Shanghai).


“China Customs will give its full support to the Operation Demeter IV,” said Mr. Zou. “We are committed to deepening cooperation, strengthening supervision and cracking down on crimes of smuggling of wastes, thus protecting the ecological environment.


The meeting was attended by representatives from international organizations including the WCO, the United Nations Environment Program (UNEP), the International Criminal Police Organization (INTERPOL) and the Secretariat of the Basel Convention, 21 WCO Member Administrations and relevant departments of the GACC, as well as foreign Customs Attaches stationed in China.
